The Cholera outbreak has led to cancellation of all food handlers licenses affecting business badly. And with poor hygiene compounded with poor drainage as seen in Kibuye market, the outbreak is set to spread further.
So far, 120 cases have been reported in the past 2 months in the capital Nairobi with top hotels also affected. the government has also set up six treatment centers in informal settlements to treat cases.
Some cases of cholera have also been reported in Machakos. These trends are worrying health experts since Cholera is a preventable disease. And with the nurses strike on its 52nd day, the situation is set to get worse.
Garissa county has been mapped as a potential spot for an outbreak. Cholera results when proper  waste management strategies are not adhered to. It is spread through the fecal oral route.
